Richard Cockerill delighted with Leicester Tigers grit

Leicester Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill is delighted with the "grit and determination" of his fringe players during Sunday's LV Cup win over Northampton.

Leicester Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill was delighted with the "grit and determination" of his fringe players after Sunday's LV Cup win over Northampton Saints.

Four penalties from George Ford helped the Tigers to a 26-14 victory over their old rivals at Sixways Stadium.

"I was delighted with the performance, delighted for some of those guys on the fringes that were playing in a big game for the first time," Cockerill told Sky Sports News.

"There was some good grit and determination out there - we were under the cosh for the whole of the second half virtually but the attitude of the players has been outstanding for the last four or five weeks.

"It was a fierce game. I'm sure it was a great spectacle for the neutrals - if there were any in the stadium."

Leicester continue their Aviva Premiership campaign next Sunday at London Irish.
