Sky Sports picks up the UK rights to broadcast the NBA in a four-year deal.

Sky Sports has taken the UK broadcast rights to the NBA from BT Sport as part of a new four-year deal.

The agreement means that more than 170 games a season will be broadcast in the UK - a new record for the sport - with an average of five live games per week, including the prime 8.30pm Saturday slot.

"This is great news for our customers and for NBA fans in the UK and Ireland," said Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis.

"We're partnering with a really exciting sport that has a fascinating history and an even more compelling future. With some of the biggest stars in world sport we know the NBA will bring drama and entertainment to our customers week after week, available across our many different platforms."

The new season tips off tomorrow (Tuesday) with an opening-night double header that sees champions Golden State Warriors in action against Oklahoma City Thunder.

Both games will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Arena.
