Oscar Pistorius 'not wearing prosthetic legs while breaking down bathroom door'

A forensic expert tells the court that Oscar Pistorius was unlikely to be wearing his prosthetic legs when he broke down his bathroom door with a cricket bat.

A forensic expert has told the High Court in Pretoria that Oscar Pistorius may not have been wearing his prosthetic legs while breaking down the door to the bathroom where he shot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Lt Col Johannes Vermeulen has demonstrated that the Paralympian could have hit the door with a cricket bat while still on his stumps after shooting Steenkamp through the bathroom door back on Valentine's Day last year.

This version of events does not fit with what Pistorius claimed in his bail application last year, when he stated that he "rushed back into the bedroom" to put his prosthetic legs on after firing the shots.

The 27-year-old denies all the charges against him and maintains that he mistook the South African model for an intruder when he fired the shots at the bathroom door.
