Newcastle United fined after breaching Under-18 kit advertising rules

Newcastle United are fined £7,500 by the Football Association after admitting to breaching rules over their Under-18s side wearing kits bearing the logo of a betting company.

Newcastle United have been fined £7,500 after admitting to breaching rules over their Under-18s side wearing kits bearing the logo of a betting company.

The Magpies, sponsored by China-based online gaming firm Fun88, breached the Football Association's kit and advertising regulations that prohibits the use of alcohol and gambling-related sponsorship on youth kits.

Following a Sunday Times investigation which highlighted the breach, Newcastle removed all photographs of their junior teams in Fun88-branded strips from their website and re-shot all official photographs in the shirts.

"Newcastle United have been fined £7,500 after the club admitted breaching The FA's Kit and Advertising Regulations," the FA announced on its official website.

Fun88 have been Newcastle's main shirt sponsor since the start of the season and have a two-year deal with the Premier League club.
