Kenny Jackett praises Sam Ricketts influence

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett believes that captain Sam Ricketts can continue to have a big influence on his team in the Championship.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has backed defender Sam Ricketts to play a big part in the club's first campaign back in the Championship.

Ricketts captained Wolves to the League One title this season, and as one of the more experienced players at Molineux, Jackett believes that the Wales international can continue to have a positive influence on his teammates.

The 52-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "He's a big influence and a big part of things. He takes the responsibility that he's given, which is a lot as captain. Also, the flexibility he has to play right along the back four is a plus.

"He's settled down and probably played more games at right-back than he has for years, which is arguably his best position. But either way, he has the experience and the flexibility to play right along the back four and that's a good thing to have."

Ricketts made 46 appearances for Wolves last season.
