Sam Allardyce wants 'bigger, better' squad for next season

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce reveals that is keen to build a "bigger and better squad" for next season.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that he wants a "bigger and better squad" for next season.

The Hammers made sure of their Premier League survival with a game to spare on Saturday thanks to a 2-0 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Having been hit numerous injury problems throughout the course of this season, Allardyce is keen to boost his options in the summer.

"I don't want to go through next season with the same phases and challenges as we had this season," he told the club's official website. "We need a bigger and better squad; there is no doubt about that.

"As much good as the players have done since I have been here - and I'm not criticising any of them whatsoever as they've given all that they've got - our job is always to improve the squad as you can't stand still in this league."

West Ham play their final game of the campaign on Sunday when they travel to title-chasing Manchester City.
