West Brom caretaker boss Gary Megson: 'I'm in charge for Newcastle United game'

West Bromwich Albion caretaker boss Gary Megson reveals that he has been told that he will remain in charge of the team for the Premier League game with Newcastle United.

West Bromwich Albion caretaker boss Gary Megson has revealed that he is happy with the club's communication over a replacement for Tony Pulis.

After being put in temporary charge last week, Megson guided the Baggies to a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, a result which keeps the West Midlands side out of the relegation zone.

Alan Pardew is expected to be named as West Brom's new boss this week, but Megson has confirmed that he will remain in his current role for Tuesday's meeting with Newcastle United.

The 58-year-old told reporters: "They told me this morning that they are looking and have been talking to people, which is what you would expect.

"That has to take most of their time up. They are fortunate I have taken so many games and been a manager for so long, I don't particularly need someone there all the time to ask questions and what we are doing.

"I was informed this morning that nobody will be coming in to take the game before Tuesday. I will be doing that."

Megson has previously hinted that he may consider a return to management on a permanent basis, over five-and-a-half years after his last full-time role at Sheffield Wednesday.
