Juan Antonio Pizzi eyeing La Liga challenge

Valencia boss Juan Antonio Pizzi claims that his side can challenge Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga next season.

Valencia boss Juan Antonio Pizzi has said that his side can challenge Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid next season.

Los Che made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League this season, but a disappointing domestic campaign has seen them finish eighth in La Liga.

However, with Singapore billionaire Peter Lim taking ownership of the club, Pizzi believes that the former Spanish champions can challenge at the top end of the table in the 2014-15 campaign.

"The players have taken the news about Lim's arrival well," Pizzi told reporters at a press conference.

"I think the majority of them are pleased with the decision. There is no chance that we will not improve next season from what we have done this season.

"But the margins are very small and the target for next season will be to make a great start and try to compete with the Big Three of Spanish football. In order to do that, we have to have a lot of belief we can achieve it."

Valencia are expected to be extremely active in the transfer market this summer.
