Udinese boss Andrea Stramaccioni sorry to beat Inter Milan

Andrea Stramaccioni says that he took no pleasure in watching his Udinese team beat former employers Inter Milan at San Siro.

Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni has reflected on Sunday's bittersweet 2-1 win over former employers Inter Milan at San Siro.

Mauro Icardi fired the hosts into a 1-0 half-time lead, but goals from Bruno Fernandes and Cyril Thereau ultimately downed Inter, who sacked Stramaccioni in 2013 after one season in charge.

However, the 38-year-old insists that vengeance was not on the agenda last night and claims that he would have preferred to beat the Nerazzurri's bitter rivals AC Milan instead.

"For 90 minutes we were enemies, but I have many friends here who are not going through an easy time, so I wish them well from the next game," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"I think Inter won everything and had a fantastic era, but I took a big chunk of it away with me – Dejan Stankovic. I also have other staff members who were at Inter.

"I am a simple lad, I come from nothing and I don't forget who gave me that amazing opportunity. Maybe it would've been better to beat Milan here..."

Udinese climbed to eighth in the Serie A table, leaving Roberto Mancini's Inter side in 12th.
