Leon Britton apologises for "unacceptable" Swansea City display

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton apologises to supporters for an "unacceptable" display in the 3-0 loss to Leicester City.

Leon Britton has apologised to Swansea City supporters for an "unacceptable" performance in the 3-0 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.

Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick for the visitors at the Liberty Stadium as Swansea extended their winless run to five games and slipped to within two points of the relegation zone.

The loss puts more pressure on Garry Monk, who is rumoured to be facing a battle to keep his job, and Britton insists that fans have every right to feel frustrated.

"We were very very poor today," the midfielder told the club's website. "We can talk about Leicester City and recognise they are top of the league and doing very well but we have to look at ourselves.

"That performance was unacceptable from every one of us. I can only apologise to the fans for today. It was one of the worst performances I have seen from ourselves in a long time."

Swansea return to action with a trip to Manchester City next Saturday.
