A report claims that Stoke City are targeting Mick McCarthy and Nigel Pearson to become their next manager, as both boast experience of earning Championship promotion.

Stoke City have reportedly added Mick McCarthy and Nigel Pearson to their list of possible candidates to succeed Paul Lambert at the bet365 Stadium.

The Potters are on the lookout for a new boss following Lambert's departure on Friday afternoon, coming a fortnight on from their relegation from the Premier League.

Sky Sports News suggests that managers boasting Championship-winning experience are being considered, as Stoke prepare for their first campaign outside of the top flight in a decade.

McCarthy is currently available after departing Ipswich Town last month, while Pearson is under contract with Belgian second-tier side Leuven.

The report also claims that, contrary to reports elsewhere, Sam Allardyce, David Moyes and Graham Potter are not on City's radar.
