Palace chief Steve Parish: 'Tottenham's £12m bid for Wilfried Zaha is ridiculous'

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish blasts Tottenham Hotspur's "ridiculous" £12m bid for Wilfried Zaha.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has slammed Tottenham Hotspur's £12m offer for winger Wilfried Zaha.

News emerged yesterday that Spurs had made a move for the England Under-21 international, who returned to Selhurst Park last year following a failed spell at Manchester United.

Zaha has reportedly told manager Alan Pardew that he wants to leave the club after learning of Tottenham's interest, but the club are adamant that they will be keeping hold of the 23-year-old.

Parish told talkSPORT: "We had a bid from Spurs but £12m - it's ridiculous. I can't imagine that they're serious.

"There's no chance whatsoever of Wilfried Zaha leaving the club in this transfer window. I can absolutely reassure every Palace fan he is an integral part of our plans. We've told Spurs that there is really no point bidding for him because he is going nowhere - 100 per cent guaranteed."

Today, Pardew echoed his chairman's comments and added that he is unaware of the details surrounding Tottenham's offer.

"I don't even know what the bid is," Pardew said in this morning's press conference. "I didn't even ask. I've worked with Zaha. He's improved under my management, the club have done well to bring him back here. He's playing great football. I hope that doesn't stop going forward. The chairman has made his position clear and I stand by that."

Across two spells at Palace, Zaha has made 223 appearances, scoring 27 goals in the process.
