Israel attacker Manor Solomon is reportedly undergoing his medical with Tottenham Hotspur ahead of his move to the North London giants on a free transfer.

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine last year, Solomon's contract with Shakhtar Donetsk was suspended, allowing him to join Fulham for the 2022-23 season.

A serious knee injury and subsequent operation delayed Solomon's Cottagers debut, but the 23-year-old soon became a prominent member of Marco Silva's squad.

Solomon was seldom seen from the first whistle at Craven Cottage, but he memorably scored in five successive matches in all competitions, coming off the bench to net against Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 23-year-old forced his way into the first XI for a 3-2 loss to Brentford on March 6 and netted for the fourth Premier League game running, prior to which he also struck against Leeds United in the FA Cup.

With FIFA extending their ruling allowing Ukraine-based players to suspend their contracts, Fulham were believed to be keen to keep Solomon at the club permanently, in spite of the fact that the 23-year-old made just four Premier League starts.

However, Tottenham stole a march on their London rivals in the race to sign Solomon, whose contract with Shakhtar expires in December, and he is therefore available on a free transfer this summer due to the extended suspension of his deal.

The Israeli attacker is believed to have agreed a four-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and according to Sky Sports News, his medical is now underway.

Tottenham have swooped for Solomon despite the threat of legal action from Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin, who was left furious at FIFA's decision to allow players to continue suspending their contracts.

Palkin initially said that he would be prepared to take Tottenham to court for "unjust enrichment", but the Shakhtar chief has since affirmed that he hopes to reach an amicable solution with the North London club.

Last month, Tottenham announced that they would welcome Shakhtar to the English capital for a charity friendly on August 6, and Palkin has expressed a desire to discuss Solomon's case on the eve of that fixture.

However, Spurs are seemingly on the verge of getting a deal for Solomon over the line, as the Israel international prepares to become the Lilywhites' fourth signing of the summer window.

Two new faces in Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and English playmaker James Maddison have arrived in North London, while Dejan Kulusevski has re-signed on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell from Juventus.

Ange Postecoglou is also looking to beef up his backline with at least one new centre-back, and the Lilywhites are in talks with Barcelona over a permanent switch for Clement Lenglet, who also spent the most recent campaign on loan in North London.

Wolfsburg's Micky van de Ven remains a prime target too, but a move for the Dutchman has apparently been plunged into doubt after the German side raised their asking price to £40m.
