Tottenham Hotspur close gap on Leicester City at the top

Second-half goals from Nacer Chadli and Danny Rose earn title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur all three points against Swansea City.

Tottenham Hotspur's quest for a first league title since 1961 remains alive following their 2-1 victory over Swansea City at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

It seemed for a long while that it was going to be a frustrating outing for the hosts thanks to Swansea City striker Alberto Paloschi's goal before the break, but late interventions from Nacer Chadli and Danny Rose made the difference and moved second-placed Spurs to within two points of leaders Leicester City.

It was a bright start by the North Londoners, yet they fell behind with 19 minutes on the clock as Swansea's January signing netted his first goal for the club.

A shot from full-back Angel Rangel deflected into Paloschi's path and as Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris advanced, the Italian kept his cool to find the back of the net.

The remainder of the half was dominated by the display of Swansea keeper Lukasz Fabianski, who almost single-handedly kept Spurs at bay.

The likes of Harry Kane, Erik Lamela, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen all tested the Pole, but he was equal to each of their efforts to ensure that his side took a 1-0 lead into break.

Mauricio Pochettino's men continued the onslaught after the restart, yet it was not until the 70th minute and after numerous Fabianski stops that they were able to make the breakthrough.

Belgium international Chadli had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes when he reacted quickest to divert Kyle Walker's initial shot into the back of the net.

Then, the points were sealed just seven minutes later through the unlikely source of Rose. An Eriksen corner was cleared only as far as the left-back and from 20 yards out he lashed his shot beyond the reach of a helpless Fabianski.
