Tim Sherwood dismisses Charlie Adam handshake speculation

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood dismisses speculation that some of his players won't shake Charlie Adam's hand when they face Stoke City on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood has insisted that his squad will "show respect to their opposition" when they face Stoke City on Saturday.

It had been reported that several Spurs players could blank midfielder Charlie Adam after a challenge from the Scot on Paulinho left the Brazilian facing four weeks on the sidelines earlier this season, but Sherwood has stated that the former Liverpool man has not been a topic of conversation in the changing room.

The 45-year-old told reporters: "The players will do their duty and shake hands along that line to show respect to their opposition.

"I haven't heard the boys talking about Charlie Adam at all. They're just concentrating on the game. I don't think that it's a problem."

Spurs need to beat Stoke to maintain their slim hopes of finishing in fourth place in the Premier League table.
