Eric Dier determined to clinch fifth spot

Eric Dier insists that Tottenham Hotspur are determined to finish the season by clinching fifth spot at the weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has admitted that he is desperate to clinch fifth spot in the Premier League on the final day of the season.

Liverpool currently sit just one point better off than Spurs in the table, and Dier claims that the squad are still motivated as they prepare to visit Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

"Liverpool losing to Palace has opened the window for us a little to try to finish fifth so we'll push for that and push for the win at Everton," the England Under-21 international told the club's website.

"I'm sure they will want to finish on a high in front of their fans as well so even though it's the last game of the season, there is still plenty on it.

"I was quite impressed by them at White Hart Lane in November. We did well to beat them that day and it will be difficult again. Both teams will want to do well."

Spurs currently sit just one point above seventh-placed Southampton in the battle for Europa League qualification.
