Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino says that Toby Alderweireld is unlikely to be available until after the club's Champions League fixture with Juventus next week.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that the club must be "cautious" with the fitness of defender Toby Alderweireld.

Earlier this season, Alderweireld spent three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and although the Belgian international made a successful return to action, the centre-back has since sustained another fitness issue.

Spurs face Juventus in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie next Wednesday, but Pochettino has indicated that Alderweireld will not be available for the clash at Wembley Stadium.

At a press conference, the 45-year-old told reporters: "We need to be cautious with him. I think still we need to assess every day. I don't believe he can be ready for Juventus."

However, Pochettino has revealed that Jan Vertonghen should be ready to return for the meeting with last season's runners-up.
