Rickie Lambert 'buzzing' for Merseyside return to face Everton

Southampton striker Rickie Lambert admits that he is relishing a return to Merseyside to play Everton this weekend.

Southampton striker Rickie Lambert has admitted that returning to Merseyside this weekend to play Everton will be a special experience.

Former Liverpool schoolboy Lambert grew up in the area and has said that the fixture will be a personal highlight.

Lambert told Saints' official website: "It's another one that all the lads are buzzing for, and for me as a Scouser it's definitely one I've been looking forward to.

"They're flying at the minute. But even when they're not flying it's a hard place to go so we know we've got a hard game on our hands.

"Hopefully the Aston Villa win is going to give us the confidence to go there and get something."

Lambert is a striker in form in his debut season in the top flight, with four goals in his opening five Premier League matches including a brace against Villa last weekend.
