New Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones claims that he will not fall out with his predecessor, Gary Megson.

New Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones has claimed that there is no reason for him to fall out with Gary Megson, the man he replaced at Hillsborough.

Jones was appointed as the new Owls boss yesterday, just two days after Megson was sacked, despite leading the club to third in the league and his final game being a 1-0 win in the Steel City derby.

The decision to get rid of Megson was not a popular one amongst supporters, but Jones believes that there is no reason for him to fall out with his predecessor.

"You have sympathy for anybody that is going to be out of work. I was out of work for six or seven months. That's the environment we work in. Should I have left Cardiff after finishing third in the Championship, getting to an FA Cup final? That's just life," said the former Cardiff City boss.

"We are in a results business and sometimes things happen that don't always go to plan. I will speak to Gary. I have got nothing to hide. There is no reason to fall out with each other. We're in the business where it happens. He followed me into the job at Stockport. Now I have followed him into a job 16, 17 years later."

Jones' first game in charge of the Owls comes away to Rochdale on Saturday.
