Steve Kean: 'Language barrier not a problem for David Moyes'

Former Real Sociedad assistant Steve Kean insists that David Moyes will be able to communicate in English at the La Liga club.

Former Real Sociedad assistant Steve Kean has claimed that David Moyes will have no problem communicating in English at his new club.

Moyes officially took charge of the Spanish side on Monday evening, but the Scot only speaks limited Spanish.

Former Blackburn Rovers boss Kean has claimed that learning Basque will be more important in the long run, but has said that Moyes will be able to communicate in his native tongue.

"Unless you speak Basque, which is a very, very difficult language, they would rather you speak English than Spanish because they don't feel Spanish," Kean told Sky Sports News.

Kean acted as assistant to Chris Coleman at Sociedad during the 2007-08 season.
