New Cristiano Ronaldo deal 'stalls over length'

Cristiano Ronaldo's deal to remain at Real Madrid hits a snag after a dispute over the length of the contract.

Cristiano Ronaldo's new deal with Real Madrid has reportedly stalled due to a dispute over the length of the contract.

The 31-year-old is thought to have agreed terms to remain at the Bernabeu for an annual salary of £18.5m after tax, with numerous performance-related add-ons.

According to The Mirror, however, Ronaldo is said to be demanding a five-year deal running through to the end of the 2020-21 season, when the striker would be 36 years old.

Madrid only want to offer Ronaldo a four-year deal at most, meanwhile, amid concerns over his goalscoring form.

Ronaldo has played more than 11 hours of football for Madrid in La Liga and the Champions League so far this season and has netted just four times - his worst goalscoring rate for the club since his arrival from Manchester United in 2009.
