Joey Barton: 'There is no issue between myself and Andy Halliday'

Rangers midfielder Joey Barton suggests that a training ground incident has been blown out of proportion by claiming that there is no outstanding issue with Andy Halliday.

Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has said that there is "absolutely no issue" between himself and teammate Andy Halliday after it was reported that they had been involved in a training ground altercation.

It was suggested on Thursday that an incident had taken place in the aftermath of the club's 5-1 defeat to Celtic last weekend, and the claims led to Barton taking to social media to address the situation.

Barton has been advised to stay away from the club's training ground until Monday, but the player has claimed that he and Halliday have already spoken about the disagreement.

The 34-year-old told talkSPORT: "There is absolutely no issue with me and Andy. There was no anger. We sat down in the dressing room afterwards and spoke through what was said. It's disappointing that certain people are trying to insinuate that there is, because it's completely false.

"Andy is a mad, passionate Rangers fan, he's stood in the terraces, so I've got great respect for him. He cares deeply about making the club better, as I do, but the way it's been handled is strange."

Barton will not feature in the Rangers squad for the game against Ross County this weekend.
