Rangers' Europa League playoff tie with FC Ufa will go ahead after the Russian outfit were awarded visas to travel to Scotland for Thursday's first leg at Ibrox.

Rangers' Europa League tie against FC Ufa will go ahead as planned on Thursday after the Russian outfit were awarded visas to travel to Scotland.

Concerns over whether the squad would be allowed to travel to the UK for the first leg of their playoff showdown with Rangers led to reports that Steven Gerrard's side could be handed a bye into the group stages of the competition.

However, Sky Sports News reports that the issue is now resolved, with Ufa scheduled to land in Glasgow on Wednesday.

A short turnaround between Ufa's qualifying victory over Progres Niederkorn from Luxembourg had left the future of the tie up in the air, with political tensions between Russia and the UK making the situation more complicated.

The first leg will now go ahead at Ibrox on Thursday, though, with Rangers then scheduled to travel to Russia for the return leg a week later.

Rangers are bidding to qualify for the group stage of the competition for the first time since 2010-11, when they went on to reach the last 16.
