Tony Fernandes "very proud" of Queens Park Rangers showing

Tony Fernandes hopes that Queens Park Rangers can build on their brave showing against Liverpool this afternoon in their next match.

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has declared himself "proud" of his side's efforts in this afternoon's dramatic 3-2 defeat against Liverpool.

The R's looked to have rescued a point late on in a topsy-turvy climax at Loftus Road, although Steven Caulker's own goal in the fifth minute of added-on time at the end of the game cancelled out Eduardo Vargas's leveller to deny the hosts.

Having won just one game this season, QPR remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table, yet Fernandes says that there are plenty of positives to build on.

"It's a cruel game but we all wanted QPR to play and they played," the Malaysian tycoon tweeted. "I'm very proud of everyone in the club. Despite all the negativity we came out and played with pride. We deserved a point but that's football. Let's hope we build on this."

Next up for QPR is a home match against Aston Villa a week on Monday.
