Tony Fernandes: 'Queens Park Rangers job is Chris Ramsey's for the taking'

QPR owner Tony Fernandes confirms that Chris Ramsey will remain in charge at Loftus Road if he succeeds in keeping the club in the Premier League this season.

Owner Tony Fernandes has confirmed that Chris Ramsey will remain in charge of Queens Park Rangers if he keeps them in the Premier League this season.

Ramsey has been appointed as interim boss until the end of the campaign, after Fernandes failed to land his "dream" candidate, believed to be Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement.

Reports have claimed that Fernandes will move for Clement again in the summer, but the Malaysian businessman has insisted that Ramsey is now in pole position and would be happy for him to stay on.

"When you've got someone like Chris Ramsey, I think the job is his for the taking and I don't necessarily mean we have to stay up or whatever," Fernandes told Sky Sports News.

"Obviously we want to stay up and if we stay up Chris is going to be there automatically but it's his job for the taking. If you were in my position, what would you do? Look, if someone keeps us up now we would be nuts to change them, right?

"But even if we don't stay up - and we've got to be real about it - I think Chris still could be the man that takes us to the Promised Land."

Fernandes added: "We spoke to about five people and no-one felt right at the time. One person did, and he was someone who I thought and still believe would be a dream manager for QPR."

Ramsey led the Hoops to their first away points of the season at Sunderland last week to lift them out of the relegation zone.
