Darren Ferguson: 'We showed togetherness'

Darren Ferguson calls on his Peterborough players to push on after victory against Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon.

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has called on his players to use the victory against Leyton Orient as a platform to push on.

The Posh had picked up just one point from their previous eight matches in League One going into the match, something which Ferguson hopes the club can improve on following the 2-1 victory at the Matchroom Stadium.

"I hope this proves to be the turning point," Ferguson is quoted as saying by the Peterborough Telegraph. "We've had many questions asked of our character and togetherness lately, and understandably so, and while this is just one come-from-behind win it was against a very, very good Orient side.

"It's okay to talk about a good spirit and togetherness, but you have to go on the pitch and show it and we did that today. We were the better side for 70 minutes and then let in a bad goal from our point of view.

"We might have folded then and thought it wasn't going to be our day, but all credit to the lads for picking themselves up and finishing the game so well. It was a very dramatic win, but we deserved it. This was a very good performance and an excellent result, but we have to build on it by going on a winning run."

The victory leaves United in sixth place, with Walsall next to visit London Road.
