Newcastle United end their interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer after learning the Frenchman's price tag, according to a report.

Newcastle United have ended their interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer, according to a report.

Eddie Howe is on the lookout for attacking reinforcements across his forward line this summer, in order to ease the burden placed on the shoulders of striker Callum Wilson.

A right-sided forward is said to be on the list of priorities for the Magpies during the transfer window, with them expected to invest heavily in their first summer window under the stewardship of its Saudi-backed owners.

Twenty-two-year-old Diaby was said to be high on the list of targets to fill the desired role, but Football Insider are reporting that the Premier League outfit have decided against a move after learning Leverkusen's price tag.

Die Werkself are said to have requested a transfer fee of around £60m for the Frenchman this summer according to the report, with Newcastle now moving onto other options instead as a result.

Diaby has been linked with a move to the Premier League after performing excellently in the 2021-22 campaign over in Germany, in which the winger netted 17 goals and contributed 14 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen.
