Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse feels that his memorable volley against Southampton can signal a return to form for the Senegalese forward.

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has admitted that he was happy to be back on target in spectacular style for the Magpies this afternoon.

Cisse scored a volley from 30 yards in Newcastle's 4-2 victory over Southampton at St James' Park to help the Magpies climb clear of relegation trouble.

The Senegalese forward has now scored twice in his last four Premier League appearances and revealed that he feels happy to put a barren start to the season behind him.

He told BBC Sport: "Yes it was a very nice goal.

"This year is sometimes difficult for me but today I think I score a very nice goal and now I am happy."

The 27-year-old has scored eight goals in all competitions for Alan Pardew's side this season.
