Loic Remy keen to save Newcastle United

Loic Remy hopes that he can kick-start Newcastle United's season once again upon his return from suspension.

Loic Remy is hopeful that he can kick-start Newcastle United's season once again upon his return from suspension.

The Frenchman has been absent from first-team duties since his red card in the 0-0 draw with Norwich City last month, during which time United have lost all three of their fixtures without scoring a goal.

Remy returns to the fold for next weekend's clash with Aston Villa, and the 27-year-old believes that he has a responsibility to score the goals which would lead to an upturn in fortunes for the North East outfit.

"I just know I have to score - this is my job," Remy told The Shields Gazette. "It's not pressure, it's just normal. I am a striker, and it's my job to score goals.

"We have conceded 10 goals in three games, which is a lot. At the same time we haven't scored any goals.

"For me, I know I have a big responsibility. The fans are expecting a lot from me."

Newcastle host the Villans at St James's Park next Saturday at 3pm.
