Manchester United to pay Robin van Persie £5m to leave?

Manchester United are willing to offer striker Robin van Persie £5m to leave the club this summer, according to reports.

Manchester United will offer striker Robin van Persie £5m to leave the club this summer, according to reports.

The Dutch international has 14 months left on his £250,000-a-week current contract at Old Trafford and the club are rumoured to be searching for another striker.

United are said to be willing to pay Van Persie the remaining half of his £10m loyalty bonus, which was agreed when he joined from Arsenal in 2012.

This will free up their wage bill, according to the Daily Mail, as they pursue their interest in Edinson Cavani and PSV's Memphis Depay.

Both Juventus and Inter Milan have been linked with Van Persie, who will likely have to accept a pay cut to join either Serie A side.
