Manchester United complete Toby Collyer signing

Manchester United complete the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Toby Collyer from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Toby Collyer from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 18-year-old rose through the ranks at the Seagulls' academy and has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Red Devils as he continues his development at youth level.

Collyer - who has already represented England at Under-16 level - confirmed his arrival with a post on social media, writing: "Delighted to join this great club @manchesterunited can't wait to get started!"

Collyer, who plays primarily as a defensive midfielder but can also fill in at centre-back, registered two assists in 28 games for Brighton's Under-18s but only made one appearance in the Under-18 Premier League this term back in August.

The teenager also made one appearance for the Seagulls' Under-23 side - playing the full 90 minutes of a Premier League 2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in January of last year.
