Manchester United are willing to let Casemiro leave the club due to the emergence of teenager Kobbie Mainoo, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to let Casemiro leave the club during next summer's transfer due to the emergence of teenager Kobbie Mainoo.

Casemiro, 31, moved to Old Trafford from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, and he was in outstanding form for the Red Devils last season, scoring seven goals and registering six assists in 51 appearances.

The Brazil captain has netted four goals and registered one assist in 12 outings this term, but his early-season performances from a defensive point of view were heavily criticised.

Casemiro is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, and he will not be available for selection until the end of December at the earliest.

However, according to Football Insider, the midfielder could find it difficult to regain his spot in the side, with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag planning to use Mainoo as the team's holding midfielder moving forward.

Mainoo was outstanding on his full Premier League debut against Everton on Sunday, and it is understood that the 18-year-old will keep his starting role against Galatasaray on Wednesday evening.

The Englishman had been tipped to start the 2023-24 campaign in the team, but he picked up an injury against Real Madrid during pre-season, which ruled him out of the opening weeks of the season.

Ten Hag was full of praise for Mainoo following his performance against Everton, and despite his age, he is expected to be an important player for the team moving forward.

Casemiro's future has recently been called into question, and it is being reported that Man United are willing to let the experienced midfielder depart next summer.

The South American penned a four-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, when he arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid in August 2022.

However, a number of clubs from Saudi Arabia are believed to be lining up, so Man United would likely be able to still receive a generous transfer fee for the midfielder in 2024.

Casemiro is also said to be ready to leave the Red Devils after two seasons, while Donny van de Beek is also set to move on in that area of the field, opening up space for new signings.

A recent report claimed that Man United's concern over the form of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat this season will lead to them targeting two new central midfielders in January.

However, Scott McTominay, who was heavily linked with a summer exit, has been a vital player for Man United in recent weeks and is now highly unlikely to be allowed to leave next year.
