Athletic Bilbao want to re-sign midfielder Ander Herrera from Manchester United, according to a report.

Athletic Bilbao are reportedly interested in re-signing midfielder Ander Herrera from Manchester United.

Herrera has started just one Premier League match for United this season, but played a key role in their 2-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to keep the midfielder, but his contract at Old Trafford will expire this summer.

According to The Independent, Bilbao are closely monitoring Herrera's situation in Manchester and could approach him in January with a contract offer.

Herrera was born in Bilbao and came through the youth system at the Spanish club before making 128 appearances between 2011 and 2014 ahead of a move to England.

A number of Premier League clubs are also believed to be interested in signing the 29-year-old.
