Jose Mourinho: 'Marcus Rashford will get first-team chances'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho insists that Marcus Rashford will get "a lot" of first-team football this season following his match-winning cameo against Hull.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that Marcus Rashford will get plenty of opportunities to play first-team football this season.

The 18-year-old burst onto the scene in the closing months of last season, becoming the club's first-choice striker and earning his place in England's Euro 2016 squad.

Until today, Rashford had so far been forced to settle for a watching brief in the Premier League this term due to the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but he came off the bench to score a stoppage-time winner against Hull City this evening.

"He's very good. I know that he's very good since last season, but working with him every day I think the same. The two matches we were needing a winning goal against Leicester and tonight. He came on and gave us diversity in our football," Mourinho told reporters.

"He's different than (Wayne) Rooney, he's different than Zlatan, so everybody is happy with him and we're happy with the squad. I have two weeks before the next match, I have to analyse the opponent and see the way my boys are coming back from the international games.

"He can play but he can be on the bench, I don't know. I have to analyse. The important thing is that he's working very well. He's 18 years old. We are starting matches with a second man behind Zlatan, [but] we can start some matches with the player in front of Zlatan, so the kid is going to play a lot of matches for sure."

Rashford became the first teenager to score a Premier League goal for a team managed by Mourinho this evening.
