Manchester United's Juan Mata: November was "bittersweet" for us

Juan Mata says that November has left a "bittersweet" taste in the mouths of Manchester United, despite being unbeaten for the entire month.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has claimed that November was a "bittersweet" month for the club.

Louis van Gaal's side went unbeaten in November, but their last two fixtures in all competitions resulted in draws.

At the weekend, the team drew 1-1 with Leicester City, and three days prior failed to strike in a goalless draw with PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

The result in Europe means that United will need to beat Wolfsburg in Germany to be certain of their place in the final 16 of the competition.

"November was an important month in our calendar and it leaves a bittersweet taste - in the last 30 days we haven't been defeated, but the last two draws haven't been good for us," Mata wrote on his blog.

"Especially the one on Wednesday against PSV, because we knew it was a game that we had to win. Winning in Wolfsburg is almost the only valid result for us if we want to get through. It's not an easy task but we are confident that we can make it to the next stage. The Champions League is a very important competition for us and we want to remain in it."

United's next game is at home to West Ham United on Saturday.
