Juan Mata: 'Manchester United will strengthen in summer'

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is confident that the club will strengthen the first-team squad in the summer.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has insisted that the club have been in a "transitional moment" throughout the current campaign.

United look likely to miss out on qualification for next season's Champions League after a poor performance domestically, but Mata is confident that manager David Moyes will sign several "top players" during the summer.

The 25-year-old told The Mirror: "When I joined, in all my conversations with the board and the manager about next season, they were confident about getting the right players.

"They know, and I know, we're in a transitional moment, but in the summer, they're going to try to sign a few players and I have the faith that they are going to bring top players in."

Mata has scored three times in 11 appearances for United since joining from Chelsea in January.
