Bobby Charlton: 'Louis van Gaal will bring fantastic times to Manchester United'

Manchester United legend Bobby Charlton praises manager Louis van Gaal, believing that the Dutchman will prosper at Old Trafford.

Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton has praised manager Louis van Gaal, believing that, despite being initially "surprised by the enormity" of the club, the Dutchman will go on to prosper at Old Trafford.

The former Netherlands boss overcame a stuttering start after taking the United reins at the start of the season to lead the club to fourth in the Premier League table.

Charlton wrote in United's Saturday programme: "A new manager comes in and has lots of things on his mind, a lot to think about at once, and Louis van Gaal was perhaps a little surprised by the enormity of the club.

"I am not worried about the season or the future. I think we can look forward to some fantastic times here."

The Red Devils take on Sunderland this afternoon.
