Manchester United winger Ashley Young ruled out of derby clash

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal confirms that Ashley Young is out of this Sunday's derby against Manchester City.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Ashley Young will play no part in this Sunday's clash against local rivals Manchester City.

The winger has missed United's last two games against Everton and CSKA Moscow with a calf problem, and despite returning to training, the Englishman has not been deemed fit to take part this weekend.

"Only Luke Shaw and Paddy McNair are injured for United," Van Gaal told MUTV. "Ashley Young is back in training but not ready to play on Sunday."

United could leapfrog City to the top of the Premier League table if they win at Old Trafford on Sunday.
