Barcelona boss Xavi has "nothing to announce" after an alleged meeting with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland last week.

Barcelona boss Xavi said that he has "nothing to announce" when questioned on an alleged meeting with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland and his agent Mino Raiola.

Xavi and Barcelona sporting advisor Jordi Cruyff are believed to have met Haaland and Raiola in Munich last Tuesday to discuss a possible switch to Camp Nou this summer.

The Catalan club's head coach has said that he is not prepared to "disclose details" but is currently working "for the future and the present" of the La Liga outfit.

"I can't disclose details, but I can only say that we are working for the present the future of the club," Xavi told reporters. "I can't say any more, when I can we will be the first to say it. For example, yesterday we announced Pablo Torre's arrival.

"But, in this situation [regarding Haaland], I have nothing to say and nothing to announce, only that we are working for the good of the club, for the future and the present.

"The most important thing is that I have not seen a single player who has said 'no' to Barcelona. Of course there are different circumstances, but it makes all the players feel excited at the idea of joining."

Haaland will have a £67m release clause in his BVB contract this summer and is widely expected to leave, with Real Madrid and Manchester City also viewed as leading candidates for his signature.

The 21-year-old, who is believed to be keen on a move to Spain, has scored 23 goals and registered six assists in 20 appearances for Dortmund during the 2021-22 campaign.
