Manchester City 'reach £26.5m agreement with Real Madrid for right-back Danilo'

A report claims that Real Madrid defender Danilo will sign for Manchester City before the end of the week, becoming the second right-back to join this summer.

Manchester City have won the race to sign Brazil international Danilo after agreeing to pay Real Madrid £26.5m for the defender, according to a report.

The 26-year-old is expected to become the Citizens' fifth signing of the summer before the end of the week, joining hot on the heels of fellow right-back Kyle Walker.

Danilo had been tipped to join Chelsea earlier this month, but reports at the time suggested that an agreement could not be reached over the player's valuation.

According to The Guardian, the Brazil international is now on the verge of finalising a switch to the Etihad Stadium, with City also prepared to offer up to £5m in add-ons.

Should the deal go through, Pep Guardiola will have spent £76.5m on strengthening his right-back position during the off-season, having surprisingly missed out on free agent Dani Alves to Paris Saint-Germain recently.

Attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva, goalkeeper Ederson and Brazilian youngster Douglas Luiz have also joined City so far this summer.
