Manchester City monitor United Arab Emirates youngster

Manchester City target young Al Ain winger Omar Abdulrahman, according to development officer Brian Marwood.

Manchester City official Brian Marwood has revealed that the club is monitoring the progress of young winger Omar Abdulrahman.

The 21-year-old spent two weeks on trial with the Citizens in the summer following his appearance for the United Arab Emirates at the London Olympics.

Marwood, speaking after a football development workshop in Abu Dhabi, admitted that there is difficulty in attaining a player such as Abdulrahman due to work permit regulations.

However, he said that he is a talented player who the club are keen on bringing to the Etihad Stadium.

"We had seen him at various tournaments but obviously we saw him closer to home at the Olympics and he did very, very well," Marwood told Sport360.

"Our chairman organised for him to come over and spend some time with us. I think he enjoyed the experience, we enjoyed having him with us. He is a very talented young player.

"There are some real challenges getting a player like him to be able to play in England, which is very frustrating because it's one that we would seriously look at, but we continue to monitor him."

Abdulrahman currently plays for UAE Pro-League outfit Al Ain.
