Manchester City defender John Stones is ruled out of Saturday evening's Premier League meeting with Everton due to head injury protocols.

Pep Guardiola has revealed that centre-back John Stones will play no part in Manchester City's meeting with Everton due to the head injury sustained on international duty with England.

The 23-year-old took a ball clean to the face in the second half of the Three Lions' 1-1 draw with Italy at Wembley Stadium, forcing him off the field.

Guardiola says that Stones is not feeling any ill-effects from the facial blow, but head injury protocols mean that the defender will be unable to feature at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.

"He feels really good but the rule is a seven-day job so that is why he is not available," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

Guardiola would not give much away on the fitness of Sergio Aguero, meanwhile, simply stating that the injured striker is feeling "much better".
