Remi Garde delighted with Lyon triumph

Remi Garde says that Lyon's Coupe de France triumph will breathe new life into club.

Lyon boss Remi Garde has described winning the Coupe de France as a "beautiful moment".

A goal from Lisandro Lopez was enough to see Les Gones beat Quevilly to win their fifth crown at the Stade de France last night.

Garde said that he is proud of his players and believes that the cup triumph will "breath new life" into the club after a tough season.

"Even after the final whistle went it took me a while to realise what we had achieved," said the 46-year-old. "It was a great performance. To win the Coupe de France is a beautiful moment and special for a club.

"I am very proud to win this trophy for the club but I didn't do it all by myself. I don't know if it's a relief but it is a step forward after three seasons in which we won nothing.

"The hardest thing is to keep winning but I think that this will breathe new life into the club. This season might not go down as a success but it is not a failure."

Garde replaced outgoing manager Claude Puel last summer.
