Brendan Rodgers: 'Fabio Borini will not leave on loan'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers quells claims that Fabio Borini could leave the club on loan this summer.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Fabio Borini will not be allowed to leave the club on loan this summer.

The 22-year-old made just 20 appearances for the Reds last season, but Rodgers has claimed that he wants to keep the Italian in his squad.

"Not at this moment in time. There would be a queue of clubs wanting to take him if he was available. We want to keep a strong group - it's a very long season for us," Rodgers told reporters at a press conference.

"You've got Daniel [Sturridge], Fabio, [Iago] Aspas and Luis [Suarez] to come in a number of weeks. We want to make sure the competition in the group is there."

Liverpool have won both of their league fixtures this season.
