Barcelona must reportedly pay Liverpool another £17m should Philippe Coutinho reach 100 games for the club, with the attacker currently on 90 appearances.

Liverpool are reportedly in line to pocket an extra £17m this season due to a clause in Philippe Coutinho's Barcelona contract.

The Brazil international's time at Camp Nou has been plagued by injuries, and he only managed 14 appearances across all competitions during the 2020-21 season.

Coutinho was strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League over the summer, but a return failed to materialise and he is still thought to be in Ronald Koeman's plans.

The attacker has now turned out 90 times for Barcelona, and according to Sport, Barcelona must fork out another £17m to Liverpool if he reaches the 100-game mark.

La Blaugrana initially paid Liverpool £121.5m for Coutinho in January 2018, and the 29-year-old now boasts 23 goals and 14 assists for Koeman's side in all competitions.

Coutinho was not included in the squad for Barca's opening two games of the new La Liga season but was an unused substitute in their 2-1 win over Getafe before the international break.
