Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that he is open to doing transfer business when the window opens in January.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out bringing in new additions to the team when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Merseyside outfit signed Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer, but they failed to address their defensive frailties.

The club were heavily linked with a swoop for Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk, but they were forced to withdraw their interest after being accused of tapping up.

The Dutchman attempted to force a move by handing in a transfer request, but the Saints stood firm and refused to sanction a sale before the deadline last month.

Liverpool's problems at the back have been evident in this early stage of the season, and while Klopp is open to doing business in the winter, he is happy with the current squad.

"From today's perspective, yes - we will see how it is in January," The Independent quotes the manager as saying. "I think the squad is wide enough to play in different competitions and to come as far as possible and that's the plan at the moment.

"We will see how it is in January but, in this moment, I feel comfortable when I think about different opportunities to use the players and to bring the players in different games."

Meanwhile, Liverpool are preparing to face Leicester City in the EFL Cup this evening.
