England manager Roy Hodgson will reward Daniel Sturridge for his fine finish to the season with his first senior start against the Republic of Ireland, according to reports.

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge is thought to have been selected by Roy Hodgson to start his first match for England against the Republic of Ireland tomorrow night.

Sturridge finished the campaign in tremendous form at Anfield, scoring 10 goals in 14 Premier League appearances for the Reds.

Hodgson played Sturridge alongside Wayne Rooney in training yesterday and wants to partner the duo in attack against Ireland at Wembley, according to The Mirror.

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also thought to be in line for starts against the Irish as Hodgson opts to pick an attacking lineup for the showpiece friendly.

The 23-year-old has five senior caps and a single goal for the Three Lions, but has never been picked in the starting XI by Hodgson or previous England coach Fabio Capello.
