Roberto Martinez: 'We'll come back stronger'

Everton boss Roberto Martinez tips his side to regroup and come back stronger after their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that his side will learn from their 4-0 hammering to Liverpool in Tuesday night's Merseyside derby.

The Blues were blown away by their fierce local rivals at Anfield thanks to two goals from Daniel Sturridge and strikes from Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard, and the Spanish boss tipped his players to come back stronger.

"The indication is we may learn from our first half performance," Martinez told reporters after the game.

"We were nowhere near out standards [in the first half]. We haven't showed that side of ourselves in the early part of the season.

"We shouldn't be too negative about how this [will impact on us] from now on. It's a real moment to test us and we'll regroup and start performing in the manner we're used to."

The win for Liverpool takes them four points above Martinez's side in the Premier League.
