Ronald Koeman warns Jurgen Klopp about Premier League

Ronald Koeman says that the media hype surrounding Jurgen Klopp's appointment at Liverpool was over the top and warns of the toughness of English football.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has said that the fanfare greeting Jurgen Klopp's appointment at Liverpool is over the top and has warned that the Premier League is very different to the German style of football.

Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers at the Reds earlier this month after nearly 30 years of playing and managing in Germany, and the former Borussia Dortmund boss has overseen draws in both of his first two games at the club.

Ahead of the Saints' visit to Anfield on Sunday, Koeman has suggested that his counterpart may be surprised by how tough English football can be.

"Klopp is a big story in the press because it is Liverpool and it is Klopp, but it is a little bit too much I think," the Dutchman told The Mirror.

"Things are different in the Premier League. It is a strong competition and you have to be prepared. You have a lot of international players and they travel a lot. It i tough because you don't have a break.

"It is different to any other league because of that. You play on December 26 and 28 and that is not normal."

Both sides can move as high as sixth in the Premier League table with a win in the clash at Anfield.
