Jurgen Klopp to miss Liverpool's match against Sunderland due to appendicitis

Jurgen Klopp will miss Liverpool's match against Sunderland at Anfield this afternoon due to a suspected bout of appendicitis.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be absent from the Anfield dugout this afternoon when his team take on Sunderland because of a suspected bout of appendicitis.

The Reds will be without their German leader when they try to claim just their second win in six top-flight games.

Matchday duties will fall to Klopp's backroom staff, including Zelkjo Buvac, Peter Krawietz, John Achterberg and Pepijn Lijnders, the club's official website has confirmed.

Liverpool, who are currently eighth in the Premier League table, are looking to bounce back following Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat to Leicester City.

The Merseyside outfit are currently 11 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
